With the introduction of Human Genome Project and the subsequent high through-put sequencing projects of various organisms, bioinformatics has becoming an indispensable methods for biological research, which combines with new technologies, accelerated the progress of biological research. Students will understand the basic theory, methods and techniques in bioinformatics with this course, and are expected to analyze and solve specific practice questions flexibly. This course will lay the theoretical and technical foundation for students to solve practical questions of life science research. This course focuses both on the theoretical background and day to day practice, topics to be covered include sequence alignment, sequence database search, and phylogenetic prediction etc.
