It is not only one of the main subjects of life science, but also the professional basic course of plant production. The course, which regards physiological functioning as the main line, is divided into four parts and more than ten chapters: cell physiology, functioning and metabolic physiology (water physiology, nutritional physiology, photosynthesis and respiration, and transport and distribution of assimilates), growth and development (signal transduction, plant growth substance, growth physiology, photomorphogenesis, flowering physiology, maturation, senescence and abscission), and environmental physiology. Combined with the teaching of experimental class, students can understand and master the basic laws of plant metabolism and growth. Besides, they can acquire the basic skills to study the phenomenon of plant life and furtherly cultivate their innovative thinking and the ability to solve practical problems in agricultural production.
